On 12 October, 2026, H.E. Yang Yundong, Ambassador of China to Cyprus, paid a call on Patsalides, Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus. 

Ambassador Yang spoke highly of Cyprus's robust financial system, noting that China regards Cyprus as an important partner. He expressed the hope that both sides would further deepen cooperation in areas such as green finance and fintech, thereby providing more efficient and convenient financial services to support bilateral cooperation across various sectors—including the economy and trade—in the new era.

Governor Patsalides spoke highly of the important role China plays in maintaining global economic and financial stability, and expressed a strong willingness to work with China—through cooperation in the financial sector—to address challenges such as climate change and accelerate the green transition.
