On 30 September 2026, Ambassador of China to Cyprus Yang Yundong attended the fireside discussion “Cyprus-China at 55: Partnership, Connectivity, and Strategic Choice” under the Cyprus Forum 2026.  

Ambassador Yang pointed out that amid profound changes unseen in a century, President Xi Jinping has put forward the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity, as well as the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilizaiton Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative, lighting the way forward for a turbulent world. 

Ambassador Yang noted that “China Opportunity 2.0” contributes greater market dividends, innovation dividends, and supply chain dividends to the world. Countries should work together to uphold a cooperation environment of openness and mutual trust, and avoid overstretching the concept of national security on economic and trade issues.
