On September 14, Ambassador of China to Cyprus Yang Yundong held a reception in celebration of the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides attended and addressed the event. Over 500 guests were present, including cabinet ministers, leaders of major political parties, members of Parliament, representatives from various sectors of Cypriot society, members of the diplomatic corps in Cyprus, as well as representatives of Chinese enterprises, Chinese community, and Chinese students in Cyprus. 

Ambassador Yang pointed out that over the past 77 years, under the leadership of the CPC, the Chinese people have secured historic accomplishments. China’s diplomacy has injected valuable stability and positive energy into a turbulent world. China-Cyprus relations have maintained a sound momentum of development. The Chinese side is ready to work with the Cypriot side to create an even brighter future in bilateral ties, and build a community with a shared future for humanity. 

President Christodoulides spoke highly of China-Cyprus relations and the vital role of China in international affairs. He reaffirmed commitment to the one-China policy, and expressed readiness to advance cooperation with China in various sectors, and advocate for a constructive and mutually beneficial EU-China relationship.
