On August 7, 2026, Ambassador of China to Cyprus Yang Yundong met with Permanent Secretary of the Deputy Ministry of Culture of Cyprus Giorgos Papageorgiou. 

Ambassador Yang noted that China and Cyprus are both ancient civilizations with long histories. In recent years, bilateral people-to-people and cultural exchanges have become increasingly vibrant, yielding fruitful results in cultural cooperation. China stands ready to work with Cyprus to further deepen dialogue among civilizations, strengthen public support for the growth of bilateral ties, expand practical cooperation in the cultural field, and further advance bilateral relations through mutual learning. 

Permanent Secretary Papageorgiou spoke highly of the positive achievements in bilateral cultural cooperation and expressed his willingness to work with the Chinese side to continuously deepen exchanges and mutual learning in the cultural field, and steadily expand new space for cooperation.
