On May 21, 2026, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Cyprus Zhou Yunliang met with President of the Union of Cyprus Municipalities and Mayor of Larnaca Andreas Vyras.   

Chargé d’Affaires Zhou noted that subnational cooperation is a key driver of the China-Cyprus strategic partnership. The Chinese side is ready to work with the Union of Cyprus Municipalities and Larnaca to further tap the potential in this field, and strengthen practical cooperation as well as people-to-people and cultural exchanges for win-win results.

Mr Vyras reaffirmed the firm support of the Union of Cyprus Municipalities and Larnaca for the one-China principle. He commended China’s great achievements in national development, and expressed readiness to further deepen exchanges and cooperation with China, and contribute to the growth of China-Cyprus relations.
