On 13 March 2026, Mr Zhou Yunliang, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Cyprus, attended the briefing “Understanding China Through the Two Sessions” jointly held by the Embassy of China in Cyprus and Strategy International, a thinktank in Cyprus. The event was also attended by nearly 30 representatives from government agencies, political parties, chamber of commerce, businesses, thinktanks, universities, media outlets and youth organizations of Cyprus.
Chargé d’Affaires Zhou pointed out that the Two Sessions are a vivid embodiment of whole-process people’s democracy in China, and the well-conceived formulation and successive implementation of five-year plans is a good example of China’s ability to pool resources to accomplish major undertakings. He elaborated on three “codes” of China’s governance, i.e. the “institutional code” of combining democracy with collective strength, the “development code” of focusing on both speed and quality, and the “diplomatic code” of safeguarding peace while upholding justice. Zhou added that the Chinese side is ready to step up cooperation with the Cypriot side to practice true multilateralism, uphold international fairness and justice, and build a community with a shared future for humanity.
Chargé d’Affaires Zhou and Counsellor Liu Kai then answered questions about the 15th Five-Year Plan, China’s economy, China-EU relations as well as regional hotspot issues. The event was widely covered by mainstream media outlets of Cyprus. |
