"The Seminar on China-Cyprus Modern Urban Development and Management" organized by the Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO) of the Ministry of Commerce, successfully concluded on November 30. A total of 27 senior officials from local governments in Cyprus participated.

On November 17, our Embassy hosted a reception for all participants. Ambassador Liu Yantao introduced the the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC, in conjunction with the recommendations for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan, discussed new opportunities for China-Cyprus cooperation.

This seminar is the first bilateral human resource cooperation project between China and Cyprus. During the one-week program, participants engaged in both theoretical study and practical field visits, learning about China’s experiences in urban management and green transformation, and visiting enterprises and industrial parks in Beijing and Guangzhou.

On behalf of the participants, the President of the Cyprus Union of Municipalities and the Mayor of Larnaca, Mr. Vyras, expressed gratitude to the Chinese government and highly praised the effectiveness of the program. He stated that they will draw on China’s experiences in urban construction and management to further deepen practical cooperation between the two countries.
