On 23 May, Ambassador Liu Yantao visited Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC), where he had a meeting with General Manager Thanasis Tsokos and gave a short interview.

Both Ambassador Liu and General Manager Tsokos agreed that as China and the EU celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year, and China and Cyprus will celebrate the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties next year, strengthening media cooperation between the two countries is of great importance to increasing China-Cyprus and China-EU mutual understanding, friendship and cooperation. The Chinese Embassy and CyBC agree to jointly hold the China-Cyprus Media Forum in the second half of this year.
