On 8 May 2025, the Signing Ceremony of China-Cyprus MOU on Sports Cooperation was held. The MOU was signed by Mrs Athena Michaelidou, Minister of Education, Sport and Youth of Cyprus, and Mr Li Jing, Vice Minister of the General Administration of Sport of China.

Both sides were of the view that sports cooperation is a significant component of China-Cyprus strategic partnership. With the signing of the MOU as a new starting point, they stood ready to enhance sports exchanges and cooperation across the board, improve sports performance, and promote sports values, so as to further increase the bonds and friendship between the two peoples.
