Recently, U.S. Under Secretary of State Keith Krach told Cypriot media that "China has a national security law that requires any Chinese company, state-owned or otherwise or any Chinese citizen to turn over any information, proprietary technology, intellectual property or data upon request to the Chinese Communist Party or their army or suffer the consequences" and that Chinese businesses are "untrusted" and "risky" vendors for 5G technologies.

This is the latest example of US resorting to diplomacy of lying and alienation. The US is covered in mud all over and is in no position to criticize others in terms of internet espionage. It is even more unthinkable for the US to slash groundless accusations against others and try building a so-called "clean network". As the US fabricates and spreads rumor about the security threat posed by 5G network by Chinese companies, it has never provided any evidence. So far not a single country, organization, company or individual has presented any evidence showing that Chinese companies pose a threat.

From meddling in other countries' 5G rollout to openly coercing allies into excluding Chinese companies, certain US politicians have no scruples in mobilizing state power in order to stop Chinese businesses from getting an edge in 5G. What they have in mind is obviously not a "Clean Network", but an "American Network"; not a "secure 5G network", but a "US surveillance network"; not protection of "privacy and liberties" of the individual, but consolidation of US "digital hegemony".

The European Competitive Telecommunications Association (ECTA) issued a statement a few days ago that denounces any bans of Chinese 5G suppliers for geopolitical reasons and emphasizes that such decisions can only be justified on the basis of well-established facts, stressing that the exclusion of specific suppliers will have negative impacts on consumers, enterprises and markets. In an era of globalization, 5G development should follow the concept of international consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits. Politicizing 5G issues or creating cliques won't be conducive to 5G progress. Such practices run counter to the fair competition principle and the common interests of the international community.

China is fully confident that the world can see certain US politicians for who they really are, stay independent, make their own decisions, , reject US hegemonic interference in other countries' 5G cooperation, and uphold a fair, just, open and non-discriminatory business environment.
